Typography Article and Videos

   From the videos I've learned that Typography overall, is used in echoey aspect of society throughout time in order to convey messages to audiences. The videos covered how companies use different fonts like script for example to appear feminine or elegant. The use of fonts in this way creates a positive correlation between a company and an idea. Different forms of typography have been, overtime associated with different values, to the point of a psychological impact on audiences. Sarah Hyndman in her Ted Talk on typography even mentioned how jelly beans tasted sour when paired with a jagged font than jelly beans paired with a bubbly, decorative font.  Overall from Sara Hyndmans Ted Talk and Ina Saltz videos I've realized the importance the type of font can have on an audience and how a font can be used to empower the meaning of advertisements, company names and products in everyday life.     The article by comparison focused more on how to effectively use typography

Marks and Symbols

Marks are graphics used to represent companies, agencies, institution and other businesses. that consist of symbols, pictographs, lettermarks,logos combination marks and trademarks. Symbols specifically use different methods to appeal to audiences, including positive association, easy identification, simple colors and an emphasis on negative space. While used by companies for the same purpose, symbols and logos aren’t the same. A symbol is a graphic made without the use of fonts, while a logo is made of one or more words. When both words and graphics are used they’re called combination marks or signatures. The most important key facts I learned about marks and symbols were that symbols shouldn’t be too abstract because they make the meaning of the symbol confusing to audiences, The size of a symbol should be measured in a ½” diameter and should be tested to make sure the symbol doesn't become distorted when made smaller, and  trademarks are a combination of all forms of m
