Presentation

This week in e9 the class practiced and learned new presentations skills. I learned that when presenting to a large group or business I should be dressed professionally. I should have a relaxed and friendly facial expression, as not to appear hostile to the audience. Depending on the size of the audience I should speak with a loud and clear voice while maintaining a pleasant and friendly tone. While presenting I should also stand tall and maintain good posture instead of slouching. While I was absent my class watched 3 Ted presentations featuring Bill Gates, Bjorn Lomberg and Jamie Oliver. The class carefully observed each speakers posture, eye contact, voice level and tone. They class decided who they believed was the best presenter, the worst presenter and the most neutral presenter.                                    Thursday the class presented their first sketchbook assignment and blog to their classmates. Each student presented different

The Sketchbook

This week, in e9 we were assigned our first sketchbook assignment. Using our artistic ability, a sketchbook and a pencil we described what we believed graphic design was. I chose to use a majority of logos and a minority of typography for my assignment. I chose to sketch logos because I’m more familiar with comic books and graphic novels. I also find that writing neatly and legibly is a great struggle for me. I didn’t use any color because I still don’t know how to properly shade, tint or add hue to a drawing yet. For my first sketchbook assignment I used references to my favorite characters, fictional organizations and companies. My favorite part of the assignment was sitting down for a few minutes and just drawing. I haven't had the time lately to just free draw. Overall the final product  wasn't perfect or nearly as great as I had believed it would be, but look forward to improving over the four years I'll be taking this program.

Thinking about Color

My favorite color is the color blue. I don't associate the color with a specific memory but I do associate it with the color of the ocean and the sky. I've always liked the color blue regardless of the shade or tint. I see the color in space as well as on planet Earth. If I could I would switch the color of the blue color of a supernova with with the color of the sky so I would be able to look outside and see the calm brilliant blue of space. Regardless of the fact that seeing the newly colored sky would appear less brilliant overtime. My color is both light and dark. It fits in with three color groups Analogous, Primary and Cool. My least favorite color is dark orange. I associate the color with the taste of of orange and illness. I see it by itself and immediately become disgusted. I can see the sickly color on cars and fruit. If at all possible I would remove the color from every Motorized vehicle in existence. The color is a shade of Orange and fits into the

Illustrator Experience

All throughout last week in e9 we practiced the basic tools provided in Adobe Illustrate and learned about color theory. Overall the experience was fun, but it was pretty frustrating considering I’ve never used a Mac computer or its programs before. In class we used the shaper tool, rectangle tool and circle tool. For our first assignment we created a star, a square, a rectangle a hexagon and a circle. Using the website Abode colors, we also practiced filling in the colors of different graphics. The next day we learned about color theory and how colors are used in advertising. Through a presentation we were introduced to the concept of shading, hues, and the variations of different combinations of group colors including analogous, tertiary and triadic colors. On the Thursday and Friday, we created a graphic using the shaper tool and color theory. On Friday I decided to start over my graphic and create a new one due to losing so much progress after Adobe Illustrat
