Semester 1 Reflection

So far I have show the most strength and potential in graphic design. The area I am in the most desperate need of improvement is animation, specifically web and 3-D animation. I loved using photoshop to create the smiling bouncing ball animation. If I were to do anything differently I would stay after school more often and experiment with 2-D and 3-D animation. This semester I discovered I am extremely slow when it comes to big animation or graphic design projects. In the future I will need to stay after school or finish my projects faster. A goal for next semester would be to excel in video. Over the next few years I would like to improve overall in graphic Design, 2-D and 3-D animation.

House Blog

Image
The Process First we followed the instructions on Google Classroom. We selected a template and used push pull and the offset tool to create the basic outline of the house. After this my house began to have lines appearing across the roof. Any attempt to erase these outlines resulted in chunks of the roof and walls disappearing. Afterwards I had to restart and try again. By the time i finished the house most had already moved on from the animation of the house to the next project. New learning I've leaned how to use some of the tools in sketch up to create basic structures. I also know how to use the 3-D warehouse. I can also change the time and date to add shadows and fog to Sketch up. However I also learned that if a shape is not square Sketch up will no longer be cooperative or work properly.  Next time Next time I will choose the simplest of designs to mimic. If I need to start over I will reread the directions as many times as needed to avoid mistakes. Such as

Web Design Final

Image
We started by watching several video tutorials with specific instructions. Each video becoming more complex as the website reached its completion. The web project overall took about a full week to complete.I used all the available class time but had to start over two or three times and, in order to finish the website I had to stay after school. Normally the most challenging part was correcting and adding in the code as well as making sure the code was correct.     Along the way I learned what makes a website function the way it does and a how Adobe dreamweaver works. I also learned one of possibly several programs that can be used to make a website. I didn't like how the website turned out. In the end it looked sloppy and plain. I wish we had more time to make the website look more creative. The creation of the website and the final product was easier and looked better than the house made in Sketchup.

Elevator Pitch

I am an e-Communication student at Olathe Northwest High school with a talent for graphic design. I have been told by my past Language Arts and Reading Seminar teachers that I am a gifted writer. Currently I apart of Novice Debate and have some experience with civilized arguments and discussions on controversial or socially sensitive topics of discussion. I have been recognized for my talent in graphic design by an e-Commuication teacher specialized in graphic design. I am effective at  asking questions and exploring with new material or programs in order to increase my knowledge on the subject at hand. I am interested in new topics and intellect I am always willing to learn new ways to better myself. I want to continue to develop my skills in digital art and graphic design. I am inspired by the beauty that graphic design is capable of producing and I plan to inspire others in the same way.

10 Words Photoshop video

Image
The process First we located the ten words we had selected and uploaded onto our blogs last year. After finding the 10 words we created a new photoshop document. Following the steps of another blogpost we placed each word into it's own frame and arranged them in a way that made some sense. Afterwards we applied different frames to the background picture in order to adjust brightness, contrast and other settings. We changed the timing of each frame and applied fade in and fade out to the background image. Lastly we saved the video and uploaded the video to Youtube with our Blogger Google accounts.   What I learned I discovered how to to create a video timeline in Photoshop. I know now how to change the timing of each frame and how to apply certain settings to each frame. For example I can apply fade to the background frame if I want to apply fade in or fade out to a video.   What I plan to do next time Next time I plan to experiment more with each frame. I plan to discover

Smiley Bouncing Ball

The Process To begin with we started the  animation by watching a Pixar short. We took notes in class, observing squash and stretch in the tires and in Mike's expression and body. Next we began to add in multiple layers applying the grass and sky layer to each ball layer as well as a black background and text layer. We were then released and allowed to design our own expressions on the ball faces. I added three expressions instead of two. I made one face happy, one face in pain and the last face was surprised. For the finish at the end of the animation I ended a black hole for the ball to fall the ball to bounce into.  What I learned I learned how to use the paint brush tool to change mistakes I've made on layers and objects. I also discovered how I can combine text layers with normal layers. When I make a mistake on the timeline I discovered it was much easier to erase multiple slides than rearranging the order of my layers. What I plan to do next time  Next time I pla

The Process First we learned about the first of twelve principals of animation, squash and stretch. Next we learned more about Photoshop .5 discovering different features including the timeline and different mac key shortcuts including shift+option+X which would be used to repeatedly undo mistakes or the shift and right mouse click used to select frames and objects in layers. Afterwords we experimented with colors and granite's with the sky, ground and ball. Next we made several of the same frame ball frame. we changed the ball positions and applied squash and stretch. We finished the animation by moving the frames into a time line and changed the number of frames until we were satisfied with the final product. What I Learned In animation we began learning about and applying the twelve principals of animation. The first principal of animation was squash and stretch. We learned squash and stretch is used to emphasize an objects speed, momentum, weight and mass. The more squa

Your Internet History and College

Yesterday in e9 we read and article that talked about how colleges are looking at applicants internet history to see what kind of post your making online. The article said that young "tech-savvy" people were researching the history of applicants to determine whether or not that applicate should be accepted into that school. This new system gives college students the power to report applicants who post inappropriate or explicit language in their post. This method of accepting applicants isn't used everywhere, in fact only a small portion of college use this method due to the massive about of applicants they have to sort through. I believe that the way the system is currently set up, it is hardly as effective as it could be in the future. The system could easily be exploited because if a student knew an applicants full name and wanted to ruin their chances of being accepted into a college with this system that person could just create an account using their name and fill

Logo's and Fonts

Image
This week the class attempted to make our names into logos by using the tools provided in Adobe Illustrator as well as a specific template to create our logos on.   While I wasn’t satisfied with the finished product I enjoyed exploring and familiarizing myself with the different graphic effects, lines and colors. The fished logo had rectangles of varying sizes and thicknesses put together in a form I liked. It was difficult to change the outlines of the rectangles because they changed layers continuously. I b believe next time I will spend more time exploring color and shape rather than the over all completion because I believe the finished product was sloppily put together and I should have spent more time on the project. During the week the class worked to complete their third sketch book assignment. The class reflected on their names and came up with ten adjectives to describe themselves. After writing down their name at the top of the page and writ

Presentation

This week in e9 the class practiced and learned new presentations skills. I learned that when presenting to a large group or business I should be dressed professionally. I should have a relaxed and friendly facial expression, as not to appear hostile to the audience. Depending on the size of the audience I should speak with a loud and clear voice while maintaining a pleasant and friendly tone. While presenting I should also stand tall and maintain good posture instead of slouching. While I was absent my class watched 3 Ted presentations featuring Bill Gates, Bjorn Lomberg and Jamie Oliver. The class carefully observed each speakers posture, eye contact, voice level and tone. They class decided who they believed was the best presenter, the worst presenter and the most neutral presenter.                                    Thursday the class presented their first sketchbook assignment and blog to their classmates. Each student presented different
