Professional Project Review

Image
Write a summary/scope of the project. The project was to create an animation with a story for the song "Easy" by Mat Zo and Porter Robinson. Zo, Mat, and Porter Robinson. “Mat Zo & Porter Robinson - Easy (Official Video).” YouTube , Bullion Productions, 8 Mar. 2013, www.youtube.com/watch?v=at3FPJaAwoY. An animated music video for the song "Easy" by Mat Zo and Porter Robinson. During (00:31) and (00:36) the animation uses contrast by changing the city lighting changes from warm colors and shades of yellow and orange to cool colors of blue and red-violet. Between (01:19) and (01:23) i n order to emphasize, the speed of the girls' vehicle Emphasis/Pattern/Rhythm is used. What story was told and how was it told? A model living the stereotypical life of luxury in the big city escapes to a simplistic paradise, by destroying the city, after she discovers she is miserable with her current life as a model. The story was told through her facial expression

What was the scope of the project? The project was to create a multi plane animation based on in class examples and of other students. What was your process (speak to Pre-Production...idea, concepting, storyboards, etc.; Production...the actual creation; Post-Production...editing). First I decided to make a multi plane animation based on my character from the character walk cycle project. I looked through images online and based my first attempt on a candy land like landscape. After a few days I chose to restart and based my second multi plane attempt based on a horror game landscape instead. I used the mixer brush to create a dull brown orange and blue color for the sky. For the grass i picked three colors from a reference photo of the horror game. Afterwards I dragged each layer and render the entire project. What did you learn along the way? I learned how to use the mixer brush tool to make interesting colors and minor blurred effects to resemble cl

Semester Final Blog-Graphic Design

What did you do this Semester?  What is your overall opinion on the design process and final outcome of the  project? Raccoon :   The project was to create a raccoon with a fall background.  The project took 2 weeks to complete. While making the raccoon I and many others noticed t he instructions were outdated and some of the short cuts and options were removed or renamed. So we had to experiment until our raccoons matched the instructions. While making the raccoon I  learned how to experiment within the limit of instructions, trying different methods while making sure the raccoon was the same as the instructions. After I finished the main raccoon I was told to a dd more to the area surrounding the raccoon so  I changed the size of the raccoon and added a tree, piles of leaves and nuts around the raccoon.  I Liked how the raccoon itself came out however the process of making it was frustrating because of lack of instructions Typography:   The project was t

Photoshop Reflection

During the past two weeks I've developed a basic understanding of photoshop by  learning how to   use basic photoshop tools and understanding how to apply texture to a limited space using layer masks. I  also  learned how to use folders to organize layers and make them easier to manage and edit  while  making a photoshop document.  While  watching and following along with the basic tutorials I used the patch tool. A tool which is used to remove sections of a photo by filling it with another section of the image, this tool is used when the content aware fill tool cannot be used.  The content aware fill tool was used to remove large areas that are unnecessary and draw away from the main focus of the photoshop image or small areas to make the photo look, overall, cleaner .  The last tool I used was the clone stamp and healing  brush tool. These tools are used to remove small unnecessary things like tags on clothing that  can't  be removed by the  patch

Why I chose animation

Image
I chose animation because I've always been interested in 2-D animated short films. I would like to, eventually, make simple 2-D animations that tell impactful and powerful stories. I believed I would develop and learn new methods and skills in animation that I use to make 2-d animations like "Gravity" by Allin Liu. I had also believed that I could improve my drawing skills not only in graphic design but also in animation. I also just enjoy animation in general. Whether its making it or even just observing how smoothly it flows or trying to understand what the animation is trying to tell. Animation is something that I just enjoy doing no matter how much time or effort it takes. Despite how infuriating it is at times I still enjoy it. I want to continue improving and developing the skills I have in animation now until I have the skills and confidence tell impactful stories using simple looking animation.

Final Exam- 4th Quarter Reflection

Image
The 4th quarter project was to create a product, present the product and sell the idea of the product to the audience. This was to be done using graphics, a commercial, a fake  business and a website. The entire project including the website, graphics, commercial and animation took up almost the entire 4ht quarter. Creating the graphics and 2-d animation was probably the most difficult part of the project and took up the most time. A part of that time was spent before and after school. During that time I learned some ways to edit a video that I didn't know how to do before including how to add certain effects and change the size of a video clip. During the practice round of presenting the only feed back I was given was to add music during parts of the commercial that were too quite. I added the music that my team wanted for the commercial and added details that were suggested to our website such as our product functions. Looking back I think I could have done better with the comm

Our Company name was S.S.D which stands for science, style and design. We agreed on the name after coming up with the idea for Multibandz. The product our company was selling was Multibandz, a headband that could change color and patterns to match your clothing. After coming up our slogan we decided the headband should have a variety of functions in order to market the product to everyone. We decided the headband should prevent odors caused by sweat and have the headband be made of a material that would keep someone cool while exercising. With the material and functions of the product we could market Multibandz everyone and our slogan, "Icy...so you'll look fresh" made more sense. We started by creating several different ideas including a "chill pill" and a headband that would change color to match your mood. During this group project I learned how to add visual effects to videos including lighting, sound and how to move or resize a video clip. I also le

Animation Final Project Update

So far our team has finished the graphics, the commercial and a majority of the website. I made the company graphic and the 2-d animation. So far our team has worked to together successfully. The only idea I can think of to improve our team is to communicate with each other.

Graphic Design Rotation

S.S.D Business Logo The businesses logo was made using the shape tool. I combined a circle and a rectangle together to form the face of the woman. I used the paint brush to make the hair, human eye and the lips. To make the eye mouth and ear of the  rob ot i used the square tool but for the eye I combined a small circle and rectangle together, using the shaper tool to cut away pieces i didn't need. Then I used a cursive font to show off the company name.      Multibandz Coupon (online only)                                        Multibandz Company Logo The Coupon the easiest graphic to make as it was comprised of only a colored square are bar code and text. First we chose a to make a large square are colored the square the same as the M and B in our product logo. Next we added the text "Multibandz Buy 1 get another 50% off!" and colored the text the same color as the "ulti" and "andz" part of our product logo. Then we added in a b

My Personality Type

Image
ISTP Personality Type In e9 we took multiple versions of the Myers-Briggs personality test. In all versions of the test that I had taken I was an ISTP. An ISTP is someone who is observant and has an understanding of mechanics. ISTP types are also good at responding to emergencies and are attentive to detail and responsive to the world around them. A famous person who shares my personality type is Stanley Kubrick, a filmmaker. Does it match? I don't really think the ISTP matches my personality. I'm not very observant of the world around me. While I am reserved I am also withdrawn. I'm also not adaptable or independent. Often I rely on other people. During emergencies I tend to panic rather than keep my cool and deal with it. I don't think my personality type explains why I am the way I am or why I gravitate toward certain activities over others. Does my personality type explain aspects of myself? My personality type does explain why I've preferred to work

ABC Sequence

The assignment was to create a video focusing on the sequence of a video. The project required multiple shots to make any jump cuts less noticeable. We began the project by making a storyboard. The storyboard took a few attempts because we had to add pictures and redraw the story board. Next we checked out the necessary equipment and began filming. Filming the video took many attempts because there were many teachers and other students constantly walking by during the video. We also had to improvise some of the shots taken due to complications. Complications such as the front doors of the school having an alarm system that goes off if they're propped open for too long. Finally after taking all the necessary shots my partner and I downloaded our videos and began the process of editing our videos. I learned that taking the same shot over and over from different angles can greatly improve a video. The removal of jump cuts can also improve a video by making the progression of a video

6 Shot Video Project

Image
The six shot video assignment was a 30 second video that practiced using the axis line and the 6 basic shots of video; including extreme close up, close up,over the shoulder, middle, wide and extreme wide. Throughout the process I learned how how to use a tripod and how to edit videos in Adobe Premiere. I also learned that when recording a video to take as many shots as possible and retake shots if they can be improved on. Before the video was made my partner and I made two story boards for our videos. We weren't able to bring our ideas together because of a lack of understanding and communication. We spent the first day recording my video recording a few shots more than once because of a new addition to the video. The next day we spent the hour recording my partners video and editing our own videos. Next time a project like this is given I plan to focus on making sure I have the rule of thirds and the axis line in the video. I would also focus on taking more shots so I have mo

6 basic Photo Angles

Extreme Close Up    An Extreme close up is used to show detail in a person's expression  or the detail of an object. Close Up     A Close up is used to show the detail of a person's overall facial expression instead of focusing on a small portion of the face's expression. Over The Shoulder  An Over the Shoulder Shot is used typically during interviews to emphasize the person being interviewed. Middle  A Middle Shot is used to show the setting and the subject of the photo. Wide    A Wide Shot is used to focus on a specific part of a wide shot. Extreme Wide An Extreme Wide Shot is used to show the area where the photo is being taken.
